Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente says his side will go into their meeting with Uruguay looking only to win, and has labelled it their toughest challenge at this World Cup so far.
Speaking before the game, De la Fuente began by offering condolences to the people of Venezuela after the recent earthquake. He then said he was fully satisfied with the way his players had performed, both those in the starting line-up and those used from the bench.
He said the final decision on his team will be made after the last training session. De la Fuente also stressed that every knockout match is harder than the one before, and that he never sends his team out with a defensive mindset.
On Uruguay, he pointed to their quality, work rate and technical strength, as well as Marcelo Bielsa's detailed knowledge of his squad. He also referred to Germany's surprise defeat to Ecuador as proof of how difficult the competition is, before calling Uruguay the most important game Spain have faced in the tournament so far.
