Ousmane Dembélé said France’s 2-0 win over Morocco and place in the World Cup semi-finals felt “wonderful”, with the forward pointing to the team’s concentration throughout the match.
France reached the last four for a third straight World Cup, and Dembélé said the squad must keep that same focus if it wants to go all the way.
He also highlighted his role in a dressing room full of experience, saying he has now been with the national side for 10 years and should be speaking more to younger players and lifting them up.
On the match itself, Dembélé said France knew Morocco would be a difficult opponent but stayed locked in and were rewarded for it.
He also described the goal he scored, saying Kylian Mbappé had told him a couple of minutes earlier to stay central so France could break quickly. Mbappé then created the space with a strong move, and Dembélé said he simply tried to keep his finish on target before the ball went in.
