FIFA has reportedly cleared more than $13 billion in revenue from the 2026 World Cup, making it the most lucrative edition in the tournament’s history.
Brazilian outlet Estadão said the figure beat FIFA’s initial estimate of $11 billion and came from television rights, sponsorship deals and ticket sales.
The 2026 finals were the first to feature 48 teams. Reports now suggest FIFA executives are considering taking the 2030 tournament up to 64 teams in a bid to maximise commercial income.
If approved, that proposal would make 2030 the largest World Cup ever by number of participating sides.
Spain won the 2026 title, with Argentina finishing second and England third.
