Barcelona claimed a seventh straight win in all competitions after beating Racing Santander 7-2 in La Liga, and Hansi Flick used the post-match stage to praise the performance while warning that the work is far from done.
Flick urges Barcelona to keep improving
The German coach said the team had played well and liked the style as much as the scoreline. He added that the key issue was staying focused in every phase, with every pass, and insisted the side must keep improving even after a strong start to the season.
Flick also said Barcelona’s pressing and attacking mindset remained central to how they want to play. If the team loses the ball, he said, it must try to win it back immediately.
Goalkeeper update and praise for Adeyemi
On the goalkeeper situation, Flick said he feels calm when Wojciech Szczesny plays, despite one mistake. He added that Joan Garcia has a knee issue and will be assessed again on Friday, 18 September.
Flick also praised Karim Adeyemi, saying football is a team game and that the forward still has room to settle into the side. He said Adeyemi adds pace and has the support of the Barcelona dressing room.
