Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé are set to go head to head when Norway meet France, with both forwards arriving in strong form after scoring twice at the tournament.
The match gives the pair another chance to add to a rivalry that has so far been limited to three meetings. Their first came in the 2019 Champions League tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, and injuries have since restricted further clashes.
Haaland’s place in the starting line-up is not yet clear, but he is expected to feature. Mbappé arrives with France chasing the world title, while Haaland is looking for a new kind of experience on the international stage.
According to Haaland’s father, the long-running competition between the two has provided motivation for both players. The two forwards also share a close link through France youngster Rayan Cherki.
The game offers another chance for both to show where they stand among football’s leading names.
