Bayern Munich could have Vincent Kompany back on the bench soon, with honorary president Uli Hoeness saying the Belgian coach may return after the international break.
Hoeness gives recovery update
Hoeness told BR24 that he hopes Kompany will be fit to rejoin the squad within the next two to three weeks. He also said Kompany had been working around 12 hours a day, six days a week, before the latest health issue, which he said had put heavy strain on him.
The comments were more upbeat than Max Eberl's after Bayern's recent win over Mainz. The sporting director said Kompany's recovery was moving in the right direction, but that any return would need medical clearance.
Danks has filled in
The 40-year-old stepped away from pitchside duties after a physical problem while watching a youth team training session led to an emergency hospital transfer. In his absence, Aaron Danks has taken charge and led Bayern to three wins and one draw, the draw coming against Dortmund.
Danks has also kept in contact with Kompany by phone and said the coach's recovery appears encouraging, according to the original report.
