Istanbul to host the next Spanish Super Cup

The next Spanish Super Cup will be staged in Istanbul in the first week of February, ending the tournament’s recent run in Saudi Arabia.

Venue change confirmed

Spanish radio station Onda Cero reported that the four-team competition will no longer be held in Saudi Arabia. The switch comes after Saudi Arabia first hosted the Super Cup in 2020 and then from 2022 onwards.

The Spanish federation had announced in June 2021 that a 10-year extension to its agreement with Saudi Arabia would keep the tournament there until at least 2029.

Semi-final line-up

Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad in one semi-final, while Barcelona take on Atlético Madrid in the other.

If Barcelona and Real Madrid both reach the final, it would be the first meeting between Hansi Flick and José Mourinho as coaches of those sides in the competition.
