Sabri Lamouchi has broken his silence on being sacked by Tunisia during the World Cup, calling the manner of his exit “unfair” after just one match in charge.
The 54-year-old French coach, who spent only six months with the Carthage Eagles, said he was made the scapegoat for a 5-1 defeat to Sweden. Speaking on the Kampo podcast, he argued that the blame for the result could not rest with one person and suggested the pressure inside Tunisian football had shaped the decision.
Lamouchi also gave a strange account of how he found out. While he was asleep, he said the Tunisian federation posted news of his dismissal on X before deleting it. He woke to 27 missed calls from his wife, friends and contacts.
He added that he had been told after a training session that everyone was together, only for the federation president and vice-president to end his spell two hours later. Lamouchi said he had no bitterness, but wanted future coaches to be given time. He also said he had gone to Tunisia to serve the country and would not rule out a return one day.
