Facundo Medina has joined Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have officially completed the signing of Facundo Medina from Marseille, with the Argentina defender agreeing a long-term deal until 2031.

The move brings Medina into the Bundesliga after just one season in France. Leverkusen said the transfer has been finalised following negotiations over several days, and the defender has now signed a contract that runs until the end of June 2031.

Reports on the fee have varied slightly. Some accounts placed the base fee at around €23 million, with a further €2 million in performance-related bonuses, taking the total value to €25 million.

Leverkusen strengthen at the back

Earlier reports had suggested a figure closer to €20 million, but the final details point to a deal worth more than that initial estimate.

The signing fits Leverkusen’s push to strengthen their defensive line. Medina now begins the next stage of his career in Germany after leaving Marseille, with the club showing long-term faith in the Argentina international.
