Robert Lewandowski has said Barcelona still need time after his exit, but expects them to keep improving as the season goes on.
Barcelona need time
In an interview with AS, the Poland striker said he has not watched much of Barcelona’s last two matches, but still follows the club closely. He added that the team may need more balance after losing goals from last season.
Lewandowski said Barcelona scored 65 goals last season and that they need more attacking strength to replace some of the output they have lost. He also backed the club to keep pushing through to the end of the campaign.
Madrid and the European race
The forward also discussed Real Madrid, saying their new signings and Mourinho’s return have made them stronger. He said Madrid could win a trophy this season after two years without one, but added that he remains a Barcelona supporter.
Lewandowski suggested Barcelona can compete for the Champions League alongside two or three other clubs, while stressing that teams in Europe must keep their level through the whole season.
He also spoke about life in the United States with Chicago Fire, saying the move from Europe has been different and that he and his family are happy with the city, the club and his teammates.
