Julián Álvarez could face a late twist in his transfer saga, with Manchester City now looking at a possible return for the forward according to Marca.
City circle after attacking exits
The report says City have checked on Álvarez's situation and asked about taking him on loan. The Argentine left the club two years ago for Atlético Madrid after spending two seasons in Erling Haaland's shadow.
City's interest comes after the departures of Omar Marmoush and Savinho, which have reduced their attacking options. That has pushed Álvarez back onto the club's radar.
Barcelona route appears blocked
Álvarez had preferred a move to Barcelona, but Atlético are said to have shut that path down. Marca reports that Atlético do not want to sell him to Barça and still want him to stay in Madrid.
Arsenal also remain in the picture, with talk of a €150 million bid. Even so, the forward is said to be reluctant to return to the Premier League, leaving his next step unclear as the transfer window moves into its final days.
