Milan handed Inter their first Serie A defeat of the season at San Siro on Halloween 2026, winning the derby 3-1 and making it four straight victories over their city rivals in all competitions.
Moreira sets up the first-half lead
Diego Moreira created all three of Milan’s goals. He crossed for Christian Pulisic to head in the opener in the fourth minute, then delivered a corner that Adrien Rabiot turned in from a tight angle six minutes later.
Inter pulled one back through Alessandro Bastoni in the 22nd minute, his first derby goal in 20 appearances, but Moreira restored the two-goal cushion with a free-kick from 25 yards in the 43rd minute. It was Milan’s third direct free-kick goal in derby history since records began.
Inter run out of answers
Inter had 57 per cent of the ball and 19 shots to Milan’s seven, but could not turn pressure into goals after the break. Mike Maignan made several important saves as Milan protected the lead.
The result gives Milan a fourth straight derby win over Inter for the first time since the current run began in the 2024-25 Coppa Italia semi-final second leg. Inter have now gone eight derbies without beating Milan since April 2024, while Cristian Chivu has lost his first three derbies as Inter coach.
Amorim said after the match that the derby atmosphere was unlike anything he had experienced and stressed the need to stay calm and keep going.
