Morocco head coach Mohamed Wahbi said his side made the most of the space Canada left behind in their 3-0 last-16 win at NRG Stadium in Houston.
The result sent Morocco into the World Cup quarter-finals. Wahbi said knockout matches are always hard because teams are fighting to stay in the tournament, but he felt his players reacted well in second balls and duels after the break.
He also praised Canada’s performance, saying it was at a high level and had not caught Morocco out. The key, he said, was how Morocco exploited the gaps Canada offered in the second half.
Morocco beat Canada 3-0 in the round of 16 at the US venue to keep their run going at the tournament.
