Spain took the lead against France in the 2026 World Cup semi-final after Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty in the 22nd minute.
The move came from a half-chance on the edge of the France area. Lucas Digne moved to clear the dropping ball on the left side of the box, but he did not see Lamine Yamal arriving behind him and caught the Spain winger as he lifted his leg.
The referee pointed straight to the spot, and Oyarzabal finished to the right to put Spain in front.
Former referee Alfonso Pérez Burrull, speaking to Marca, backed the decision and described it as a clear penalty.
