Paredes: We Know What to Expect Against Spain

Leandro Paredes has warned that Argentina face a difficult task against Spain in the World Cup final after reaching a second successive showpiece.

Argentina beat England in the 2026 semi-final to book their place in the final again, with Paredes describing the run as something unique. He said the team had not given up at any point and were rewarded by Lautaro Martínez’s decisive goal.

"That goal was pure madness," Paredes said. "We never surrender in a match, and once again we showed that we can fight until the very last moment."

The midfielder, who started the tournament as more of a substitute before growing into a key role, said the late win had been especially satisfying. He added that the side had shown its character and spirit once more.

Looking ahead to Spain, Paredes said the final would be as tough as any game at the tournament. Argentina will begin preparations for the final on Monday, knowing a win would give them back-to-back world titles.
