Lionel Scaloni praised Argentina’s response after they fell behind to England in the 2026 World Cup semi-final, saying the side showed its full quality when it looked close to elimination.
Argentina went behind to an Anthony Gordon goal before turning the tie around with strikes from Enzo Fernández and Lautaro Martínez. The result sends them through to the final, where they will face Spain on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Scaloni said the team never gave up and insisted the players fought to the end because they believed they could recover the game. He added that the shirt demands that kind of response, and dedicated the win to the people of Argentina.
The victory puts Scaloni, who led Argentina to the 2022 title, within touching distance of a second straight World Cup triumph.
