Spain beat Austria 3-0 to reach last 16

Spain beat Austria 3-0 in their first knockout match at the 2026 World Cup and moved into the last 16.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring in the 36th minute after a pass from Marc Cucurella. Spain had already seen one effort from Cucurella ruled out, but they stayed in control throughout the first half.

Pedro Porro doubled the lead after the break with a header, before Oyarzabal added his second goal from another Cucurella assist to complete the scoring.

Spain will face the winner of Portugal v Croatia in the next round. Unai Simón also kept another clean sheet, leaving Spain yet to concede at the tournament.
