Spain have moved to the top of FIFA’s men’s world rankings after winning the World Cup, finishing on 1,995.88 points.
Luis de la Fuente’s side gained 30.27 points from the final to overtake Argentina at the end of the latest international window. France stayed third despite losing the third-place match to England, who are fourth on 1,922.83 points.
In Asia, Japan rose one place to 17th. Iran remain the continent’s second-ranked side but dropped two places to 22nd in the world. Australia are down one to 28th and South Korea fell seven places to 32nd.
Norway made the biggest jump of the tournament, climbing 12 places to 19th after reaching the quarter-finals. Tunisia also fell 12 places to 57th after failing to pick up any points at the World Cup, despite being grouped with the Netherlands, Japan and Sweden.
