Steven Gerrard: Harry Kane is the best player in English history.

Steven Gerrard has said Harry Kane may be the best English player of all time after the Bayern Munich striker extended his Champions League scoring run to 10 matches.

Gerrard's praise

Speaking to TNT Sports, Gerrard said fans should enjoy Kane's greatness because it is what he represents. He added that, among the many players England have produced, Kane is surely among the very best.

Gerrard called it the biggest compliment he could pay the striker and said his record puts him in the top bracket of English footballers.

Ronaldo's mark is within reach

Kane is now one match away from matching Cristiano Ronaldo's Champions League scoring record of 11 consecutive games. Ronaldo set that mark for Real Madrid between June 2017 and April 2018.

Kane's streak stands at 10 straight games in the competition, leaving him 90 minutes from equalling the Portuguese forward's tally.
