Erik ten Hag has ruled himself out of contention for the Netherlands job, saying he is not available to take charge in the near future.
The Dutch federation has been searching for a new head coach after Ronald Koeman’s resignation following the Netherlands’ early exit in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup. Ten Hag was quickly linked with the vacancy, but he moved to shut down the speculation.
Speaking from Twente’s training camp in Tegelen, the former Manchester United manager said his current club project is a long-term commitment he chose deliberately. He said he intends to stay focused on that work for at least the next two years.
“I am not available,” Ten Hag told AD. “I consciously decided to take this step. For at least the next two years I will be fully focused on this. I enjoy being here and I want to help this club develop.”
