Thomas Tuchel praised England’s mentality after they beat Mexico 3-2 and booked a place in the World Cup 2026 quarter-finals.
The Germany coach said the match demanded everything from his side and described it as “very difficult”. England twice had to respond after losing control of the game, and Tuchel said that showed the team’s real mentality.
He also highlighted their reaction after going a man down, saying the squad stayed serious and determined under pressure. According to Tuchel, the players never gave in and never lost belief.
“This was a step forward,” he said, adding that the occasion had to be understood in context. “This is the Azteca, this is Mexico and it was a crazy game. We left everything on the pitch, every single player. Now we have to move forward at full strength.”
