World Cup 2026 has moved past five million spectators in its stadiums, setting another record for football’s biggest tournament.
Official figures show the total attendance at host venues has now topped the five million mark, continuing a run of record crowds for this edition.
The tournament had already broken the World Cup attendance record with 3,605,357 spectators. With the knockout stage under way, that figure has risen sharply as the competition has gone on.
The expansion to 48 teams, a larger schedule of matches and the use of big stadiums across the three host countries have all contributed to the surge.
With matches still to come before the final, the total is expected to rise again, and this World Cup is on course to finish as the most attended in the competition’s history.
