Zidane selected the four captains of the French national team

Zinedine Zidane has named Kylian Mbappe as France captain and placed Ousmane Dembele, Adrien Rabiot and Jules Kounde in his leadership group, according to L'Équipe.

The Real Madrid forward remains the undisputed captain, with Zidane said to trust him in the same way Didier Deschamps did before him.

Dembele, now with Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barcelona, will act as vice-captain. Rabiot and Kounde complete the four-man leadership group.

L'Équipe said the choices were based on seniority in the national team rather than any separate selection process.

Mbappe has won 106 caps for France, Dembele 67, Rabiot 66 and Kounde 56. Zidane has taken charge of the national team for the first time during the current international break, with attention now on how France perform under him.
