New England Revolution vs Chicago Fire 1-0

New England Revolution beat Chicago Fire 1-0 at Boston Stadium, with Matt Polster’s goal in the 26th minute proving enough. Carles Gil set it up and the home side protected the lead for the rest of the match.

Polster opened the scoring on 26 minutes, and New England held that 1-0 advantage into half-time.

Chicago made three changes across two windows after the break, including a double switch on 67 minutes, but could not find an equaliser. New England sent on Dániel Gazdag for Luca Daniel·Langoni on 65 minutes, then later brought on Jackson Yueill, Tanner·Beason and Cody Baker as they saw out the game. Chicago’s changes included Puso Dithejane for Jonathan Bamba and Noah Allen for Andrew Gutman on 67 minutes, with Anzor Mekvabishvili replacing Djé D'Avilla a minute later, before Johan Arath Gomez came on for Leonardo Barroso on 79 minutes.

Chicago had 61% of the possession, 569 passes to New England’s 363, 19 shots to 5 and 10 corners to none, but the visitors still fell short. They also had more shots on target, 6 to 4, and a higher xG at 1.11 to 0.31, while New England’s six saves kept the clean sheet.

Andrew Gutman was booked for Chicago in the 58th minute, and Ethan Kohler was shown a yellow card for New England on 79 minutes. There were no red cards.
