Havertz sets out Arsenal’s ambition

Kai Havertz says Arsenal want to compete for every trophy in the 2026-27 season after last year’s Premier League title and a Champions League final run.

The Germany forward scored first in Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season win over Girona and said the club must keep pushing after ending a 22-year wait for the league crown under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal also went close in two other competitions last season. They lost the League Cup final to Manchester City and were beaten on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain after a draw in the Champions League final.

Bigger tests ahead

Havertz said the title was “the start”, not the end, and added that Arsenal need to improve again because the season will be long and the competition across all fronts will be difficult.

He said the squad want to start strongly and reach their targets again, while stressing that other teams are improving too.

Arsenal face Real Betis on Wednesday in their next pre-season fixture. They then meet Manchester City in the Community Shield on 16 August before beginning their Premier League campaign at home to promoted Coventry City five days later.
