Juventus are still backing Luciano Spalletti after the 2-0 defeat to Genoa, although the next two matches may prove decisive for the Italian coach’s future.
Pressure grows after Genoa defeat
The loss in Genoa prompted fresh speculation about Spalletti’s position, with several coaches mentioned as possible replacements. Juventus have decided, for now, to keep him in charge and give him another chance to turn results around.
Club executives are also looking at other steps to steady the squad. Players are due to attend a special camp to assess the situation and prepare for a return to winning form.
Juventus executive Giovanni Carnevali met the squad after the Genoa match and told captain Bremer that results need to change quickly and that the players must show a different attitude.
Napoli and AZ Alkmaar next
Juventus host Napoli on Sunday in a match that could carry real weight for Spalletti’s future. They are eighth in Serie A after nine matches with 14 points and need more results to close the gap to the Champions League places.
After Napoli, Juventus face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, before a league meeting with Fiorentina ahead of the international break.
