The 2026 World Cup has become the best-attended edition in the tournament’s history, with total crowds reaching 3,605,357 after the group-stage matches between Germany and Ecuador, and Ivory Coast and Curaçao.
That figure moves beyond every previous World Cup attendance mark and gives this tournament a new record for spectators inside stadiums.
The expanded 48-team format, along with joint hosting across the United States, Canada and Mexico, has helped drive the rise. More matches and a wider spread of venues have opened the door to more supporters across the competition.
Most games so far have been played in full stadiums, adding to the atmosphere across the group stage. With the knockout rounds still to come, the attendance total is expected to climb further before the tournament ends.
