Romania vs Sweden 0-1

Sweden left Bucharest with a 1-0 win after Viktor Gyökeres scored in the 13th minute, and Romania never got back level. The visitors kept that lead through the rest of the match and took all three points at Arena Națională.

Gyökeres put Sweden ahead in the 13th minute, scoring after the assist was not supplied in the source and making it 1-0. That was the only goal before half-time, with Romania already having seen Nicușor Bancu booked in the 5th minute and then withdrawn on 45 minutes. Sweden went into the break 1-0 up.

Romania made three changes on 69 minutes, sending on Alexandru Cicâldău, Ianis Hagi and Valentin Mihăilă, while Sweden made two changes on 54 minutes as Hugo Larsson and Daniel Svensson came on. Răzvan Marin was booked in the 48th minute and Valentin Mihăilă later followed in the 82nd, but Sweden held firm, with further late switches for both sides and no further goals in the closing stages.

The numbers were fairly close, but Sweden made the first-half goal count. Romania had 52% of the possession to Sweden's 48 and 527 passes to 500, while also edging shots 13-12, shots on target 4-2 and corners 5-4. Romania were caught offside three times, Sweden not once, and Sweden's goalkeeper made 4 saves compared with Romania's 1. Romania also committed 15 fouls to Sweden's 11.

Romania were shown four yellow cards, for Nicușor Bancu in the 5th minute, Răzvan Marin in the 48th, Valentin Mihăilă in the 82nd and Cătălin Cirjan three minutes into stoppage time. Sweden were booked twice, with Felix Beijmo in the 53rd minute and Alexander Bernhardsson in the 62nd. There were no red cards.
