Arne Slot has emerged as one of the leading candidates to take charge of the Netherlands, with the Dutch football federation already opening initial discussions with him.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Slot is on the final shortlist to replace Ronald Koeman. The federation is still looking at other options, but the former Liverpool manager is viewed as one of the strongest names in the frame.
Koeman stepped down after the Netherlands’ early exit from the 2026 World Cup, and the search for his successor has been under way since then. Several names have been linked with the role in recent days, but Slot’s recent success has put him firmly in contention.
Slot is currently out of work after leaving Liverpool. He built a strong reputation with Feyenoord and later added Premier League experience in charge of Liverpool.
His attacking, possession-based style has made him a popular choice among some Dutch observers, but no final decision has been made. Talks with other candidates are continuing, and an official appointment is expected in the coming days.
