Jude Bellingham scored two goals in 98 seconds in England’s 3-2 win over Mexico, moving him into a tiny group of players to record one of the fastest doubles at a World Cup.
Bellingham opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a header from Bukayo Saka’s cross. He struck again 98 seconds later after a slick move involving Harry Kane, silencing the Azteca Stadium.
The burst was the fastest double in England’s World Cup history and the third quickest ever in the competition.
Toni Kroos still holds the top spot. The Germany midfielder scored twice in 70 seconds against Brazil in the 2014 semi-final, part of the 7-1 win in Belo Horizonte.
Kylian Mbappé is second on the list. In the 2022 final against Argentina, he scored twice in 95 seconds to force extra time.
Bellingham’s double puts him among only three players to score twice in under 100 seconds across nearly a century of World Cup football.
