Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are following Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart, but there is no report of formal transfer negotiations yet.
Bundesliga clubs watch Espart
According to the source material, representatives from both clubs have travelled to Spain to watch the 19-year-old, who has become a target after a run of first-team involvement at Barcelona.
Espart came through La Masia and has been in Barcelona’s set-up since 2015. He is described by the club as a versatile player who can operate in midfield and defence, and he has also been used at full-back.
Barcelona keep control of his future
Espart made his Champions League debut for Barcelona last season and finished the campaign with six senior appearances, four in La Liga and two in Europe. He was then added to Hansi Flick’s pre-season squad in summer 2026 and remained in the first-team group at the start of the new season.
The report also says several Premier League clubs are interested. Barcelona hold his contract until June 2028, which means Dortmund and Leverkusen are still at the information-gathering stage rather than concrete talks.
