Greece vs Germany 0-0

Greece and Germany finished level after a goalless draw at Toumba Stadium. Germany had a first-half goal ruled out by VAR, and Greece held on despite long spells under pressure.

The only real flashpoint before the break came in the 32nd minute, when Jonathan Burkardt had a Germany goal cancelled by VAR. Greece had already taken a booking through Konstantinos Tsimikas on 23 minutes, while Waldemar Anton was cautioned on 36 minutes. Ivan Jovanović then made two changes at half-time, taking off Alexandros Kyziridis and Vangelis Pavlidis for Athanasios Androutsos and Konstantinos Karetsas, and the sides went in 0-0.

Germany pushed on after the restart and made two changes on 63 minutes, with Lennart Karl and Jonathan Burkardt replaced by Said El Mala and Nick Woltemade. Greece answered with a change on 68 minutes as Dimitrios Kourbelis made way for Christos Mouzakitis, then made another late switch on 78 minutes when Konstantinos Mavropanos was replaced by Panagiotis Retsos and a final one on 88 minutes as Fotis Ioannidis came off for Charalampos Kostoulas. Germany had two more changes on 83 minutes, with Derry Lionel Scherhant and Tom Bischof replaced by Bambasé Conté and Mika Baur. The match stayed 0-0, with Greece protecting a point after weathering heavier German pressure.

The numbers reflected that balance in the scoreline. Germany had 70% of the possession, 640 passes and 21 shots to Greece's 30%, 267 passes and 5 shots, but only 4 of those efforts were on target. Greece had 2 shots on target and 2 corners to Germany's 3, while both sides finished with 1 offside. Greece made 4 saves to Germany's 2, and Germany also committed 17 fouls to Greece's 8.

Greece had three bookings, for Konstantinos Tsimikas on 23 minutes, Christos Zafeiris on 53 minutes and Manolis Saliakas on 79 minutes. Germany also had three yellow cards, with Waldemar Anton on 36 minutes, Philipp Treu on 66 minutes and Malick Thiaw on 90 minutes. There were no red cards.
