Lazio vs Monza 3-1

Lazio beat Monza 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico after racing into a two-goal lead and adding a late third. Monza were reduced to 10 men before half-time, and Lazio’s first-half burst gave them enough to finish the job.

Nuno Tavares opened the scoring in the 3rd minute from Tijjani Noslin’s assist, making it 1-0, and Gustav Isaksen doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, again from Noslin, to make it 2-0. That was the half-time score.

Monza’s task got harder in the 35th minute when Lorenzo Lucchesi was sent off, and they made three changes at half-time before Saba Goglichidze, who had come on in the 36th minute, pulled one back in the 46th minute from Dany Mota’s assist to make it 2-1. Lazio answered with changes of their own, sending on Diogo Leite and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru on 53 and 60 minutes, then making two more changes on 75 minutes, one of them introducing Andrea Pinamonti. Pinamonti, who had come on in the 75th minute, sealed it in the 88th minute from Alfonso Pedraza’s assist for 3-1.

Lazio had 66% of the ball and 596 passes to Monza’s 299, and they also had the edge in shots, 17-14, shots on target, 7-6, corners, 7-6, and saves, 5-4. Monza still posted the higher xG, 1.91 to 1.59, while Lazio finished without an offside and Monza had 2.

The bookings went to Andrea Carboni in the 13th minute, Danilho Doekhi in first-half stoppage time, Oliver Provstgaard in the 55th minute and Diogo Leite in the 68th for Lazio, with Monza’s yellow cards shown to Andrea Carboni in the 13th minute and Ivan Juric in the 79th. Lorenzo Lucchesi’s red card in the 35th minute was the only dismissal.
